Utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. Provides health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. They may care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted in age-related category and area of expertise.Education Qualifications:
PRACTICE SPECIFICS
The Critical Care APP will work independently as well as collaboratively with physician intensivists with patient admitting, rounding, and discharges as part of the Medical Critical Care service. Major responsibilities include:
- Round and work-up patients for hospital consults on adult intensive care patients.
- Provide education to patients, family and staff.
- Coordinate and follow up on diagnostic studies, consultations, procedures, and family care conferences.
- Assist intensivists with procedures including bronchoscopies, central lines, arterial lines, chest tube insertion and intubation, and POCUS
- Assist with Quality work and other departmental projects as needed
- Hours: Variable hours (10 or 12-hour shifts based on need), weekends and holidays
- 0.75 - 1.0 FTE
PREFERRED
- Adult ICU experience as a practitioner or RN
- Acute Care experience as a practitioner
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
NP:
Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state
Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in appropriate state
Current certification in CPR
National certification in applicable area
Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice
PA:
Current licensure as a physician assistant in appropriate state
Current certification in CPR
National certification
Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Current BLS and ACLS within 3 months of start
Current ENLS and privileged for Neurocritical Care within 3 months of start
